It is with a heavy heart that I bear this news. As many of you now know, we lost Ed Starnes this weekend. Ed was always a wonderful supporter of the Huntsville Art League. A treasured Huntsville artist, Ed inspired many of us to pursue greatness as artists. Ed’s works were celebrated not only in Huntsville, but across the country, and in various parts of the world. Ed set the standard of success for many artists; demonstrating that arts matters, that it bears significance beyond the artist.
Although they are significant, Ed’s contribution to each of our lives is not measured only by his tangible works of art. Ed provided a continuing voice of support to the Art League staff and members, Always looking ahead and inspiring us to continue our journey. Ed embodied the kind spirit of an artist, while embracing a committed drive to march on. To say that we will miss Ed Starnes does not begin to cover it.
The service for Ed will be this Thursday at 2pm at Nativity. It will be followed by a celebration of his life in Ridley Hall (at the church). This celebration is in place of a visitation. Feel free to pass that information along to anyone who asks.
Please keep Ed’s family in your thoughts, and support one another as we grieve this loss as a community. Please feel free to contact me, or any member of the HSV Art League, if you have any questions or needs.
