The Huntsville Art League announces the kickoff of their annual Summer Limelight Series with a reception on June 21 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Art League Gallery to introduce their newest exhibitors. The public as well as Art League members are invited to join us for snacks, wine offered by the Wine Rack, and soft drinks, while strolling through the Art League’s greatly expanded gallery and education center at 3005 L&N Drive in Huntsville.
The June Limelight exhibitors include Charles Gattis, whose work focuses on landscape, panorama, and macro photography. His landscapes feature broad landscapes, bright colors, leading lines, dynamic clouds, and varying shades of darkness and light. His panoramas focus to a narrow horizontal with a broad expanse of scene, while his macros open a smaller world of varying hues and textures that often go unnoticed.
Also new to the Gallery in June is watercolorist Paul Fulda. Infected with an affinity for light, color, shape, form, and texture, Fulda says he enjoys the challenge of layering colors and trying to control the flow of water to achieve light and dark values, blends, and textures that bring life to the art.
Textile artist Connie Carrington joins the June Limelight with pieced abstract quilted works from her hand-dyed fabric. Her early abstract work is expressed by strip-pieced blocks, and her later works use an arch motif.
The Art League will also introduce artists Regina Chavez and Joe Carter.
The Limelight artist’s works will hang in the Huntsville Art League Gallery through the end of June when the July Limelight introduces two additional artists: Dan Tatum and visiting artist, Leslie Wood.
