Meet Our Instructors – Fred Sayers

Fred graduated with a Visual Design degree from Auburn University in 1970. The first 20 years of his career he was Art Director for various television stations in Atlanta and Huntsville. He has held the position of Creative Director for advertising agencies, managed government graphic contracts and was Supervisor for Graphics and Exhibits at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. From 1981 to 1985 he was partner in Sayers, Martin and Seifried Advertising which won many awards for work in print, television and radio. In 1993, Fred received the Annual Silver Award presented by the Advertising Federation for a lifetime of service to the advertising industry and the community. The second 20 years Fred was part of the Space Shuttle and Space Station Operations team. He retired in May of 2011.

Theatre is another favorite activity of Fred’s. He has performed in many productions for local theatre groups, appeared as talent in TV commercials and has been performing with Face 2 Face Improv for 10 years.

Fred enjoys painting and drawing various subjects but his real passion is cartoons. He illustrated comic strips, advertisements, children’s books and was the Huntsville Times Community Editorial Cartoonist for 2005.
