Amy McBroom is a Southern painter greatly influenced by her almost 20 years in the District of Columbia before returning to Alabama. Her acrylic abstracts depict contrasting aspects of urban life, the stark reality of beauty and tension in daily relationship: a look at how long-standing norms and abrupt change coexist.
Currently serving as Secretary of the HAL Board of Directors, McBroom is also acting President of the Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art. Her paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This year, she has participated in the juried Monte Sano Art Festival, Arts Huntsville/ALWCA Members Showcase, and “Echoes” Exhibit at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. In 2017, she participated in the juried exhibits “Bearings” at the University of North Alabama and “Represent” at the Alabama State Council for the Arts.
