David “Enso” Patten

Dr. David “Enso” Patten started his art career when he was in High School and continued for one semester in college. He subsequently changed major from art to psychology and eventually earned a Doctors Degree in Counseling Psychology. He did not do any painting for 45 years when he decided to take a course in Sumi-e (Asian Brush Art) with his now mentor, Frederica Marshall. He not only does Zen Art but also Japanese calligraphy. His paintings have been selected for the Sumi-e National Exhibition each year for the last five years. This year two paintings have been accepted and will be displayed at the Chinese American Museum in Washington DC.
