Fred McBride

Fred McBride moved to Huntsville after spending most of his life in the Washington, DC, area. Fred spent 37 years combined military and civilian service in the federal government after receiving his bachelor of arts degree from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Science in Administration from the George Washington University. Always interested in photography, Fred enrolled in the fine arts department of the Northern Virginia Community College and also studied photography at the Smithsonian and the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. While in DC, Fred was also on the board of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop where he taught courses in photography. Fred is an avid photographer and a travel adviser.

Photography is the medium I have chosen to use as a way to express how I look at the physical world in which we live. Photography enables me to capture a mood or a movement that might only last for the time it takes the shutter to open and close. I am equally at ease with photographing people or places, although I must admit a slight bias toward landscapes and gardens, especially those with a bit of mystery around them.
