In college Claire majored in art and brings that design aesthetic to her clothing. Over the years Claire has continued her education taking workshops and classes with nationally known fiber artists.
She began exhibiting at craft shows in the mid-1970s and has won various awards over the years encompassing eight states, the most recent being the Judge’s Recognition Award at the 2017 Destin Festival of the Arts.
Many of the vests, purses, and scarves are one-of-a-kind while others are limited edition pieces. She works with a wide variety of materials including batiks, cottons, silks, damasks, yarns, ribbons and beads to do piecing and weaving. Function and fit are as important as design.
An active member of the Heritage Quilters of Huntsville Claire designs and makes Comfy Quilts which are given to children in crisis.
